World Class Aspirations for the National Botanical Garden of Georgia
The Landscape Management Plan supports the aim of the garden in becoming internationally recognised as a place of science and conservation, learning, leisure and exploration.
The National Botanical Garden of Georgia lies in the dramatic Tsavkisis-Tskali Gorge on the southern foothills of the Sololaki Range in Tbilisi, Georgia's capital city. With a fascinating history spanning more than three centuries, the National Botanical Garden of Georgia is now embarking on an exciting programme to develop the Garden for the future, in line with its Strategic Development Plan 2018-2030. Its mission is to study, conserve and promote the wise use of plants to improve the quality of life for the people of Georgia. The vision for the Botanical Garden is to be an authoritative scientific resource for plant diversity and be cherished as a beautiful and inspiring botanical garden.
As part of this work, CBA has been commissioned to prepare a Landscape Masterplan to support the achievement of these aims by providing a framework for the holistic, integrated development of the landscape of the Garden, building on its existing special qualities to create a world-class botanical garden. Through a programme of phased investment and change, guided by the Landscape Masterplan, the aim is for the National Botanical Garden of Georgia to become internationally recognised as a place of science and conservation, a place of learning and education and a place of leisure and exploration.
